My son has set the house up with a Pi-Hole. It’s a raspberry pi running Ad blocking on the whole house’s network. We’re a few hours in and we’re seeing effects, as well as some teething problems. — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 11, 2022ALT

>First, we’ve discovered that about a quarter of all the internet connection in or out of the house were ad related. In a few hours, that’s about 10,000 out of 40,000 processed.

>We also discovered that every link on Twitter was blocked. This was solved by whitelisting the https://t.co domain.

>Once out browsing the Web, everything is loading pretty much instantly. It turns out most of that Page Loading malarkey we’ve been accustomed to is related to sites running auctions to sell Ad space to show you before the page loads. All gone now.

>We then found that the Samsung TV (which I really like) is very fond of yapping all about itself to Samsung HQ. All stopped now. No sign of any breakages in its function, so I’m happy enough with that.

>The primary source of distress came from the habitual Lemmings player in the house, who found they could no longer watch ads to build up their in-app gold. A workaround is being considered for this.

>The next ambition is to advance the Ad blocking so that it seamlessly removed YouTube Ads. This is the subject of ongoing research, and tinkering continues. All in all, a very successful experiment.

>Certainly this exceeds my equivalent childhood project of disassembling and assembling our rotary dial telephone. A project whose only utility was finding out how to make the phone ring when nobody was calling.

For you can do it too!https://t.co/l1SLzPrzp6 — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 11, 2022ALT

>Update: All4 on the telly appears not to have any ads any more. Goodbye Arnold Clarke!

They show your your stats on a neat little dashboard. pic.twitter.com/RQB39IvnKD — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 12, 2022ALT

>Lemmings problem now solved.

>Can confirm, after small tests, that RTÉ Player ads are now gone and the player on the phone is now just delivering swift, ad free streams at first click.

>Some queries along the lines of “Are you not stealing the internet?” Firstly, this is my network, so I may set it up as I please (or, you know, my son can do it and I can give him a stupid thumbs up in response). But there is a wider question, based on the ads=internet model.

>I’m afraid I passed the You Wouldn’t Download A Car point back when I first installed ad-blocking plug-ins on a browser. But consider my chatty TV. Individual consumer choice is not the method of addressing pervasive commercial surveillance.

>Should I feel morally obliged not to mute the TV when the ads come on? No, this is a standing tension- a clash of interests. But I think my interest in my family not being under intrusive or covert surveillance at home is superior to the ad company’s wish to profile them.

There’s a handy explanatory video from Dr. Johnny Ryan which sets out how we could end up with Just So Much ads. Each webpage load can potentially run an auction (with you as the prize pig on the block) sending data to loads of different brokers. https://t.co/wUosBLjM3f — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 12, 2022ALT
Privacy International has a short and clear guide to what hardware you can use for setting up a Pi-Hole as well as some setup instructions. Ad-blocking (home surveillance thwarting) is a human rights issue too!https://t.co/1vphCsaug1 — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 12, 2022ALT

>Aside: 24 hours of Pi Hole stats suggests that Samsung TVs are very chatty. 14,170 chats a day.

>YouTube blocking seems difficult, as the ads usually come from the same domain as the videos. Haven’t tried it, but all of the content can also be delivered from a no-cookies version of the YouTube domain, which doesn’t have the ads. I have asked my son to poke at that idea.

This has proved a popular thread. I have no soundcloud, and the things I sell are not of general use. But you can always follow & support Digital Rights Ireland (who once knocked down a state surveillance law for half a billion people) @DRIalerts https://t.co/vrAPYsxjP4 — Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 13, 2022ALT

Rendering animal fat for candles, soap, and cooking:

catholic-prepper

Firstly, you need fat obviously, and you have several options for this, you can use many different types of fat such as beef, pork, or venison, if you aren’t able to raise or harvest it yourself, talk to your local butcher about purchasing fat trimmings, most butcher shops have it in excess and are usually willing to part with it for cheap or even free! (if your butcher is kind enough to give you a deal, make sure to reciprocate with a nice homemade bar of soap or a candle)

  • Once you have your fat trimmings you must either cut or grind them into smaller pieces, I prefer to grind them, it makes the rendering process go much faster.
  • next add your fat to a pan of appropriate size and add water and salt, the amounts of water and salt will depend on how much fat your are rendering, in my last batch I had about 4lbs (beginning weight) of fat and added approximately 8 cups of water and 3-4 tablespoons of salt. The purpose of the water is to prevent the fat from burning (which will cause a permanent bad smell/taste in your finale product) and the salt is to help clean and purify the fat.
image
  • once everything is in the pot together, turn the heat up to low or medium low until the fat has melted and separated from the water beneath it, then continue to simmer at low heat for about 2 hours, the idea is to draw out and separate the fat from the flesh and sinew.
  • after the 2 hours or so are up, strain out the cooked bits of flesh/sinew/cartilage. you can use a cheese cloth to strain or a straining ladle, whatever your preference.
image
  • after you’ve finished the first render and strained the whole bits out, set the pot in the fridge overnight (or until the fat cools into a solid)
  • Remove the solid fat, pitch the dirty water, and gently scrape any sediment off the bottom of the cake being careful not to take to much fat off with it.
  • Then put it all back in the pot and repeat the rendering process 1 to 2 more times as needed (for soap you really want a clean tallow so 3 or more times is a good idea), water>salt>boil 2 hours>cool overnight.
image
  • after you are through rendering as needed, scrape off any remaining sediment/discoloration
  • pat the tallow cake dry with a napkin or paper towel
  • the next step is to either use or store your tallow. if you’re not going to use it right away, you can either store the tallow in the fridge or “cure” it by cutting the cake into small pieces (see below) and letting it dry out somewhere cool and dry (preferably with a fan on it) for a few days to let any remaining water evaporate. After your tallow has dried and cured a few days, you can store it at room temperature for a long time without fear of molding.

So I kind of hate that Putin is trying to restrict the flow of information into Russia so that he can control the narrative, so for my Russian friends, here is my guide on

How to get around internet censorship and maintain internet privacy

This will be an extremely long post 😅

Priorities

  • Download the Tor Browser
  • This will hopefully help you access the internet regardless of Russian government bans. It’s a little slow, but better than nothing. It hides your IP address from the internet, so it’s kind of like using a VPN. A very basic summary of how Tor works: your internet traffic is routed through several “nodes”. The Entry Node, can see your IP address but has no idea what data you’re sending, and this goes through several middle nodes, until it reaches the Exit Node. The Exit Node can see what data you’re sending, but it can’t see your IP address so it doesn’t know WHO sent it. That’s why it’s a good idea to do nothing identifying when using the Tor Browser, like writing personal information. Here’s a blog post with more detailed information about the Tor Browser.
  • Get a VPN
  • VPNs are often used to get around government internet restrictions. Russia will probably not be able to do much about it. However, not all VPNs are created equal. Nearly all of the free VPNs are a scam that turn around and sell your data, so free VPNs are not secure. The only exception to this is ProtonVPN which has a free tier, but it’s very slow. Basically the only good VPN is one you pay for. When choosing a VPN, be aware of where the company is based, because if a VPN company is based in the USA, it will have to comply USA privacy laws. So choose a VPN based in a country that has good privacy laws. A great one is Mullvad VPN, which is based in Sweden. But for the purposes of Russia, just making sure your VPN is not Russian or in a country sympathetic to Russia is probably good enough.

Alternative Front-Ends
A frontend is the the part of a website which the user interacts with directly. To browse the contents of websites, you usually have to visit them. However, many people have made alternative privacy-respecting frontends to popular websites that allow you to see the site’s content without actually visiting the website. This helps avoid tracking, data-collection, and even countries’ attempts to ban websites. Twitter is banned in Russia right now, but using all an alternative frontend to Twitter works (according to my Russian friend).

Google Translate

Reddit

TikTok

Twitter

Wikipedia

YouTube

YouTube Music

If anyone knows of one of these for Tumblr please let me know. I found this site called Tumgir but it looks sketchy and unlike the rest of the ones I listed, it’s not open-source. So visit with caution, but I’m mentioning it because it might be better than nothing.

There are also these browser extensions that automatically redirect site links to the available alternatives:

Mozilla Firefox

  • LibRedirect - Redirects YouTube, YT Music, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Imgur, Reddit, Wikipedia, Medium, etc.

Google Chrome

  • Privacy Redirect - Redirects Google Maps, Google Search, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, Youtube.

iPhone (iOS 15+) Safari

  • Privacy Redirect - Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Google Translate, Google maps, Google Search, Medium

Android

  • UntrackMe - Google Maps, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube

Messaging / Communication

Matrix is a federated and decentralized End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) messaging with many platforms, the most popular of which is Element. It’s like Discord, but worse. It’s getting better over time though! You can even use a a throwaway email to sign-up.

If you’re Russian you likely already know about Telegram, but MAKE SURE you’re aware that only Secret Chats are End-to-End Encrypted. So don’t say anything that would get you in trouble outside of a Secret Chat.

End Notes

China is way better at internet censorship. They’ve had years to build the infrastructure to control the flow of information online. And yet, the Chinese people still manage to “climb the wall” and find ways around this. Russia is new to this game and doesn’t have the resources China does. So I really doubt it’ll be that hard to get around their attempts to block websites. Have faith! And feel free to DM me for more info cause this post just scratches the surface for things you can do tbh.

runcibility

These are all great things, and it’s important to have a toolkit to continue communication in the face of oppression - BUT! Let’s take a look at the original twitter thread screencapped above.

image

This order is, I’m 99% sure, in regards to hosting Russian-state-run sites on any resources outside of Russian control. In a time of information warfare, it’s REALLY important to verify tidbits like this - especially when only once source is presented, via a screenshot.

(I don’t want to take away at all from any of the great information above - it’s just really important to make sure we’re leaning towards critically parsing information now, when it’s going to only get muddier as this all goes on)

takashi0

nightzap asked:

May I ask what this Orlando Furioso thing is?

takashi0 answered:

Orlando Furioso is the 1516 Epic Chivalric Romance Poem by Ludovico Ariosto, fanmade sequel to the unfinished 1483-1495 Epic Chivalric Romance Poem by Matteo Maria Boiardo, and its status as a sequel has displaced its predecessor in terms of mainstream awareness to such aggravating extents that it makes the popularity of Terminator 2 over Terminator 1 or Aliens over Alien look like potatoes so small they’re downright microscopic.

There’s a thing called The Matter of France which is a collection of legends, folktales, myths etc. about the French/Frankish King Charlemagne but more commonly about the knights (or Paladins) under his employ that are comparable to the French-Italian equivalent to King Arthurian myth. Only with *slightly* less exaggeration and mythification of actual documented historical figures.

It starts with the Song of Roland, based on an actual battle but exaggerated with artistic license to such extents that people consider it a propaganda piece for the Crusades (primarily because of how laughably inaccurate its description of Muslim belief is). People liked that so much that even in the late 1400s and early 1500s long after the Crusades petered out, the French and Italians wanted more of this Roland dude and his wacky adventures (even though he died in Song of Roland) so they started making up their own stories about him and various other OCs do not steal.

Orlando Innamorato and Orlando Furioso are probably the most well known parts of these myths aside from Song of Roland itself, which given how comparatively and unfortunately obscure they are outside of France and Italy, is a little like saying they’re the tallest dwarfs in Snow White. Until Fate Grand Order happened and brought in Bradamante, Mandricardo and ESPECIALLY Astolfo, the closest you could probably get to a mainstream accessible way to experiencing the Poems was “Go to Italy, learn Italian and go watch a performance of the plays they made on it lmao.”

As for what Furioso is about, like I said it’s a sequel to Innamorato. Orlando Innamorato starts out with the titular Orlando (the Italian name for the aforementioned Roland) falling head over heels for beautiful Saracen (and possibly Chinese) Sorceress Angelica, who showed up one day at a tournament hosted by Charlemagne for the purpose of stirring up trouble and throwing the realm of Christendom into disarray by proclaiming anyone who defeats her totally-not-cheating-with-enchanted-weaponry-that-makes-him-unbeatable brother in combat can marry her. Because Angelica’s the hottest bitch to ever walk the earth, pretty much everyone’s lines up for a go, but shit happens when a giant crashes the party and kills her brother, sending everything into Chaos and kicking off a race between Orlando, his cousin and fellow paladin Rinaldo and a bunch of other knights to chase after the fleeing Angelica in hopes of winning her hand in marriage. And a bunch of OTHER SHIT with OTHER CHARACTERS happens along the way that would take too damn long to give a concise summary of even if I DID remember all of it!

The Furioso picks up where the unfinished Innamorato left off by having Angelica shack up, fall in love with, and marry some average Joe named Medoro, and Orlando, who had been chasing after in blind love (read: lust) the whole time, finds out about this and goes absolutely bugfuck insane (*Furioso* if you will) and strips off his armor and weapons (which get stolen for mcguffin purposes) and tears a path across Europe, North Africa and possibly Asia or the Middle East wrecking everyone and everything in his path until fellow Paladin Astolfo literally returns his wits to him after a trip to the moon (Long story).

Both poems I have semi-jokingly given the moniker of “Medieval Homestuck” due to the fact that there’s a ton of characters that we follow for a while on their own little quests that we hop back and forth with in an increasingly elaborate tapestry of chronology like when they switch Viewpoints in Hussie’s Webcomic. And also like Homestuck, there’s lots of violence, death, and above all Romance.(there’s even a Fountain of Love Potion right next to a fountain of HATE potion, which does exactly what you think it does when you drink it!)

There are more characters than I can name because it’s been years since I read the Bulfinch Mythology version of the duology (because apparently Bulfinch had to chop out a lot of stuff to weld them together with other related Matter of France/Carolingian myths/Charlemagne Legends in order to try and fit them into a cohesive whole al a Le Morte d'Arthur) partially because I’m not Italian and I generally remember characters if I have a visual to associate them with, but here’s some stand out examples:

-Rinaldo intermittently chasing Angelica due to the effects of a love potion and being repulsed by her due to the effects of a hate potion, and when he’s not doing that he’s lecturing people on unjust laws in towns he passes through.

-Astolfo minding his own business and traveling through the known world in total amazement and repeatedly switching between landing into trouble and solving other characters’ problems by total accident.

-Angelica lamenting the death of her brother and running her ass away from EVERYONE just wanting to go home because she can’t stand any of her potential suitors except this random schmuck who doesn’t immediately try to jump her bones.

-Mandricardo attempting to avenge the death of his father at Orlando’s hands only to wisely back out on that plan when Orlando goes berserk, so he settles on stealing Orlando’s sword and horse to go on his own wacky adventures.

-Marfisa being a badass lady knight in the 1500s(!!!) and being solely motivated into fighting people for shits and giggles before gradually reasoning that Social Darwinism isn’t actually all that cool.

-And my absolute FAVORITE of the myriad plotlines: The Romance between the OTHER Badass Lady Knight Bradamante(!!!) and her boyfriend the Saracen Himbo known as Ruggiero/Rogero and the misadventures they have both on their own and for the express purpose of finding each other again and seeking their eventual happy ending in marriage, where Ruggiero fights with honor as the only Knight to not use enchanted Arms to win fights even if it would come in extremely handy for all the trouble he finds himself in, and in turn Bradamante STOMPS THE SHIT out of anyone who even thinks about trying to mess with her or her boyfriend. Bradamante’s the fucking best, I love her.

I tried being brief, but this is what happens when I do in geeky myth stuff; I fail.

spermwhales-and-petunias asked:

Can you tell me more about this concept of Feds impersonating white supremacists? I’ve only heard about it from anti-statist circles here on tumblr. What does the federal government get out of doing this? Seems pretty amoral. I just am super tired of trying to figure out what is real vs what is a grift. Love your content tho, keep it up!

association-of-freed-people answered:

This is gonna be a long one.

The government creates foils that serve its agenda.

Most of my life “white supremacists” or neo-Nazis were an oddity that you’d hear about maybe once every five years or so.

They were always goofy pariahs that no one took seriously. There would be a march somewhere that would get some attention and they were always outnumbered and went away and life carried on.

It wasn’t until the 2016 election of trump that this contemporary construct was created.

In my opinion it was to distract from a chunk of trumps platform that was populist and had gained earth shaking traction. This was with respect to the US relationship with China and the transnational corporate entanglements associated with it.

MAGA was poking that relationship with a stick.

If you look at how trump won it was by flipping Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin.

image
image

It was the rust belt, he flipped the labor vote by speaking directly to them.

MAGA was going to at least shine a light on 50 years of policy from the Nixon regime forward that resulted in the gutting of American industry, the destruction of the dollar, stagnant wages and massive trade deficits. That conversation was being drawn too close to the surface for very powerful interests.

I remember distinctly when the “racism” narrative began and the term “alt-right” went from internet slang for anyone not supporting GOP neocons or Democrats to Hitler in America.

It happened practically overnight and was predicated on two things; one was the creation of Richard Spencer as a political tail to wag the dog, with the second being the events that unfolded in Charlottesville during the summer of 2017 which solidified the pejorative.

Richard Spencer was a nobody prior to his creation by corporate media. I had never heard of him previously. One day out of the blue he was the face of Trump’s America.

I liken Spencer’s emergence to going out and finding a black Hebrew Israelite in whatever city, putting that guy on TV, and declaring him the face of Obama’s America. There’s no difference. That’s basically what happened. He was platformed into existence.

Then Charlottesville was organized with Spencer’s involvement in 2017 and a woman was run over and killed in the street fighting.

The primary organizer of Charlottesville was a guy named Jason Kessler. Interestingly Kessler had been an Occupy Wall Street protestor and Bernie bro who had attempted to turn those protests violent according to activists with knowledge.

Another notable event surrounding Spencer was the media giving him Pepe and Pepe subsequently being smeared and destroyed as a symbol of white supremacy.

The meme war had an intangible but very real impact on the 2016 election. It fascinated me that Pepe was assassinated in this manner after playing such a major role in the online political combat. It sounds nonsensical but there should be a book written about it.

The feds began cranking up the rhetoric about the domestic threat of white supremacists parallel to the media / academic push to label everything from math to merit as white supremacist. This drive led to a nonstop wave of fake hate crimes between 2017 & 2020 with Jussie being the most prominent.

The white supremacist narrative allows the security state to turn inward.

The corporate state sensed a bottom up threat when trump was elected. The threat was not from “white supremacists” but from a disaffected working class that had gotten the short end of the stick and been sold out for 50 years.

Calling everyone white supremacists made draconian policy easier to justify.

The problem is there really isn’t a threat from white supremacists (see wave of fake hate crimes) so one needs to be manufactured.

As the intersectional orthodoxy exerts it’s power it will label an increasingly broad swath of people white supremacists by changing the meanings of words and arbitrarily condemning value systems that conflict with it. This is the game. You’re being herded into a box and the state is preparing the auspices under which to persecute you if you resist it’s authoritarian policies or indoctrination practices.

Patriot Front probably serves the purpose of a honey pot in an effort to confirm the political threat, but also as a political amplifier of the supposed threat itself.

saltrat42

This is very well put together and stated.

I’d like to add that there were faked photo shoots and some events that were “hi jacked” in an effort to prove that groups like Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer were really racists and nazis. This turned the public opinion against them and discredited their attempts at resisting the violent riots that plagued places like portland. I can’t say that they were feds for sure but borat did it to a rally in Washington state and there have been many faked videos and images distributed of the PB and PP groups with flags and zeekkyle poses.

strict-constitutionalist

Remember when the FBI found a mentally ill guy on the internet, radicalized him, convinced him to bomb a mall in Florida, sold him a fake bomb and then "stopped a bomb threat" in the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Fort Lauderdale? Because I do.

Or that time they radicalized an autistic teenager online, convinced him to commit a mass shooting, sold him a gun and then arrested him and "prevented a mass shooting"?

undeadlibertarian

Reblogging for all the information. I also want to point out that there’s a lot of suspicion that federal agents were trying to encourage people to riot and storm the capital building before January 6 happened too. One of them was even being called a “fed” on camera. He was clearly trying to convince people to riot (a crime) and his face was visible, but somehow the federal government never bothered identifying him or made any effort to find him. This despite them using facial recognition software to identify people who had participated in the protests even when they didn’t enter the capital building. So yeah, I strongly suspect that guy was a fed and that the police force around the capital was drawn down intentionally to allow the riot to occur so the Democrats could use it as an excuse to crack down on and oppress conservatives.

cookingwithroxy

This one is pretty fucking recent, but the FBI basically took over a militia group and had their PAID INFORMANTS arrange for and hire people to run a kidnapping plot, specifically so that they could arrest them.

Why I Don’t Support BLM

sapphicconservative

Being against a movement does not mean you are against the overall message of it. There can be various reasons for why a person doesn’t back a particular movement.

  1. It goes against my beliefs in equality movements. I believe that any equality movement that doesn’t aim to unite the whole community will dissolve into a hate movement. In this case, I believe BLM is on a clear path of becoming a black supremacy movement. Just as white supremacy is bad, a black (or any other race) supremacy movement should not be supported. Recent events are showing this is well on its way of happening with BLM. Terry Crews warned of this happening and he was called slurs and attacked. Not long after, Nick Cannon did exactly what he warned would happen and he was only called out for anti-Semitism comments, not his anti-white message.
  2. BLM is filled with unchecked anti-Semitism and needs to be addressed. Another key element of becoming a race supremacy is by believing your race is better than others and actively targeting others. Being a Jew is more than just following the religion, it is why it is possible to see atheist Jews, for instance. There have been numerous cases of BLM targeting and trying to prove they are superior to Jews. Not a lot of comments have been made on this behavior, which will only enable further actions from them.
    1. Source One: A collective of BLM activists targeted a private Jewish school. They claimed they targeted this school because it has a history of “inception, early exclusions, culture of whiteness and wealth hoarding, its tolerance of Zionism, and its parasitic relationship to Baltimore City.”
    2. Source Two: A group of BLM rioters vandalized a synagogue. Not much can be said for this one as the pictures can speak for themselves.
    3. Source Three: BLM rally turned into a progom in LA, but it was reported as a “mostly peaceful protest” by most/all Left-wing media. One Rabbi compared it to the Kristallnacht because of how bad it got.
    4. Source Four: The issue surrounding Terry Crew’s warning and Nick Cannon proving him right. Not much needs to be said about this as it’s been repeated numerous times, but a source has been provided.
  3. Another case of racism, but this time to white people. As mentioned above, a supremacy movement needs to target a race and it needs to believe they are superior than a race (but more so for this point). Believing you are superior to one is bad enough, but two? This is a growing issue within the BLM groups that desperately needs to be addressed.
    1. Source One: BLM demanded white people specifically give up their homes. Imagine how you would feel if white people as a whole told you and others of your race specifically had to give up your homes. You’d be upset and say that is racist, yes?
    2. Source Two: Toronto’s BLM founder called white people “subhumxn” and genetically inferior to black people. This is, without a doubt, a racist comment. Really recommend reading over this source because it goes a bit deeper than what is generally known.
    3. Source Three: Jessica Whitaker. She was killed by BLM supporters because she said she supported ALM.
    4. Source Four: BLM rioters killed a Trump supporter and cheered over his death, calling for more white people to be killed.
    5. Source Five: BLM supporters have been filmed screaming “Fuck white people” at an elderly couple.
  4. The founders of BLM are communists. I am against communism as a whole. I absolutely believe this will bring the fall of America and it has shown to be a failed system time and time again – look to North Korea, they recently had to outlaw owning dogs as pets because the nation is starving under communism. The founders of BLM have come out as “trained Marxists”. Now, being a Marxist is one thing, but “trained Marxist”? That makes me even more wary over them. What does “trained” entail here? Regardless, under moral principles, I don’t want to support a movement started by a known Marxist – they’re as bad as a Nazi. Here’s a source that goes over the founders being trained Marxists.
  5. BLM’s message is inaccurate and selective. It implies all black people matter, but they only target and raise up black people who have been killed by a white police officer. It is why David Dorn and Horace Anderson Jr. never received spotlight and attention from any of the BLM founders. Their deaths, while unfortunate, have shown a sinister side of BLM. Deaths only matter to them when they can push forward a narrative.
  6. Other minorities are being drowned out under this movement. Just as BLM argues they experience distinct issues within a community, the same argument can be applied to other minorities. The large focus on only BLM has caused these minorities to fall behind in the community as politicians only focus on BLM (mainly to acquire votes). In order to work around this, BLM should have been a movement to unite all people against police brutality rather than racializing this issue. A true community aims to improve all, not select groups and “hope this will help the others”.
    1. This point also brings me back to my first point. It paints America in a literal “black and white” narrative, but this is vastly inaccurate. America is much more than just black and white people; we have people of all sorts of racial backgrounds. This only encourages a “us vs. them” mentality rather than pulling the community together to fight against an unjust system.
  7. BLM forces itself into separate issues. LGBT+ is a major example of this. Our issues are separate and should be treated separately from the issues BLM supposedly tackles – police brutality against black people. By this logic, it should have no room in the LGBT+ community and what we already aim to tackle. We are united not by race, but by sexuality in the LGBT+ community.
    1. The race pride flag is also disrespectful to the original creator of the pride flag. A lavender stripe was added to the pride flag by the original creator shortly before his passing and is meant to represent uniting all races and not just minorities. Adding on to that, not all minorities have black or brown skin as depicted in the race stripes, which is exclusive and racist to them.
    2. This point also discredits BLM’s intent on fighting against police brutality and adds on to point 5. When others make the argument of black on black crime, it is usually swept under with comments about how “BLM fights against police brutality against black people”. Then BLM has no place in LGBT+ spaces, just as the LGBT+ community has no place invading BLM spaces.
  8. BLM doesn’t donate to improve black majority communities, but rather, it donates to the Democrat party. Source One. Instead of putting their money to good use, they decide to fund a party who has proven to be racist (source two) and supports imprisoning black people for crimes she, too, “proudly” committed. Source Three. Source Four.
    1.  Adding onto this point, BLM has used money to bail out looters and other rioters who have actively caused direct harm to primarily black communities. Rather than putting the money to good use by those impacted by the poor decisions of others and building up their community, they decide to bail out lawbreakers.
saintofpride201

I’ll add on to the racism bit.

There was a video circulating around where an asian woman recounted her experience of being mistreated by other people of color, being told to go back to her country and that of she’s going to live here she should speak English. She asked the group of BLM activists to learn that it’s not just black people, but minorities in general being treated with racism by other minorities.

They started booing her, telling her to go away, a couple called her a chink, and they tried ushering her away.

Moreso, we saw the Stop Asian Hate movement gain traction, and certain parts of BLM acted as though it was an affront or taking attention away from their issues and retaliated. If we can’t support each other, then what even is the purpose of the movement?

If you play computer games, I recommend you to try the game “Black Book” by Russian game studio “Morteshka”. The game was released a couple of days ago. It’s based on real Russian folklore of Perm region (and not just on tales about poor old Baba Yaga who for some reason always is evil in western interpretations :).

image

The game is about a Russian peasant girl who becomes a witch for the sake of saving her lover. In the game you will meet various Slavic spirits, talk with them, fight them and/or take them into service. The genre is a RPG/visual novel/card game (fights in the form of a card game).

1. The developers did not have a big budget. So that is why graphics don’t exist (models are funny). Still far landscapes are pleasant and atmospheric.

2. Some of the English-speaking gamers in Steam are talking that it’s difficult to understand and follow all the lore in the game. But still they like it so just be ready for tons of text about folklore, believes, terminology, religion stuff and etc.

Merits:

1. There are English subs and dubs (but I recommend Russian voices).

2. The game is based on the Russian folklore and a bit of Finno-Ugric (since Perm Region is also a home for Finno-Ugric people). There is a lot of information. If you interested in Russian folklore you MUST play it :)

3. It’s interesting and atmospheric. And that’s not just my opinion :)

4. You can meet demons who possess samovars, speaking demon-cats, depressed demons who is sad because their masters forgot them, demons who want to bring progress to common people, demons who torture sinners… and  you can play with all of them in the card game (well most of them). You can help common people or curse them. You can befriend a soldier with pyrophobia, a cat-domovoi, a speaking head… Why yall still don’t play it?

There is a free demo version, try it if you are not sure: Black Book: Prologue

If you play computer games, I recommend you to try the game “Black Book” by Russian game studio “Morteshka”. The game was released a couple of days ago. It’s based on real Russian folklore of Perm region (and not just on tales about poor old Baba Yaga who for some reason always is evil in western interpretations :).

I've had this hypothetical scenario in my head. Let's say they created a pill that gets rid of all bodily dysphoria of any kind. Let's say that it was originally created as a treatment for people who have compulsions to amputate their own limbs or the "trans-abled" who sometimes create situations where they can be blinded or crippled or otherwise lose a limb. That's a real thing by the way. People who believe that they should be handicapped, so they do it to themselves.

So a scientist creates a pill. You take one and all dysmorphic issues that make a person hate or otherwise want to destroy their body go away entirely forever. Let's just also say that there are no adverse side-effects at all. It's a thought experiment, so just roll with it.

You take the pill and in every way that we can measure, inspect, and test for, the brain stops feelings and dysphoric distress relating to self-image, how many limbs you feel you should have, etc etc. This may have other applications for people with plastic surgery addictions or midlife crises.

Now, let's say it is found out that this pill also works on trans people. Take one pill and the dysphoria is gone. No "gender euphoria" or anything like that. The person is just alright with themselves and their body. Not in love, not thrilled, but not dismayed or anxious or distressed by it anymore.

How many people do you think would take this hypothetical drug? If offered by a medical professional, under the guidance that it is thoroughly tested, safe, scientifically proven, etc... would people be okay with it? Again, this is not some twist where the pill is secretly evil. This hypothetical magic pill works exactly as described. Let's also just establish that it's relatively cheap and getting a prescription for it is simple.

If a parent came in insisting their toddler is trans and the doctor offered them the Dysphoria-B-Gone pill, what would the reaction be? What about the LGBTQ-etc community? What about politicians? School faculty?

I've got my own thoughts, but I'd like to hear some other takes on the matter first.

I think there would be a lot of outrage or some kind of negative response from people that benefit from any type of trans thing at all. Like you mentioned the politicians and any major “in-power” figures in the LGBTQ community. Although im sure on the more individual end there would be lots of people who would take it for the reasons you already described. The individual figure who isn’t in the media spotlight, just getting by kinda thing. But in mass media, the response would be more negative.
